How do we build more participatory and aware communities? We start by listening to those who live in them.
In the Museu do Bairro project, promoted by 4Change, we have created a space where young people become the authors of their own narrative – through photography, collage and subtitling.
In this year’s edition, 80 students from the Amélia Rey Colaço Primary and Secondary School (Linda-a-Velha) took to the streets to observe, reflect and express what they value most about their neighborhoods.
The result of this process can be seen in the open-air exhibition in the gardens of Palácio Anjos, from May 9 to June 10, with free admission.
This project is hosted by the Oeiras City Council – Historical Heritage Dynamization Unit and Oeiras Educa – and represents for us at 4Change a concrete way of stimulating active participation, critical thinking and the positive appropriation of public space.
We believe that social transformation begins with active listening and creating opportunities for everyone to express themselves – especially those who are not always heard. Do you want to bring these possibilities to your community? Get in touch.
