Three Portuguese films are present at the Belgian festival ‘À Films Ouverts’ – three short films supported by the CLAP project for their anti-racist themes and for giving another perspective on the discrimination suffered by people of migrant origin, gypsies/Roma or racialized minorities. The films are:
-
- An association of gypsy culture / A Roma Culture Association
-
- Meeting point
-
- Gesture of Art
In the short film ‘An association of gypsy culture’, Susana Silveira talks about prejudice against gypsy communities and the significance of starting the Costume Colossal association to fight prejudice. This video was made in partnership with the associations Costume Colossal (@costumecolossal5) and Almada Mundo (@amaiportugal) for the CLAP! project.
The CLAP! project aims to develop audiovisual skills and promote creative expression, especially in vulnerable contexts, raising awareness of racism through media production. Training modules, tools and resources were created to facilitate the creation of films by groups of adults. Production and interviews by Alexandra Dias da Silva and director Eduardo Amaro on camera and post-production.
Until March 30, the films will be shown together with a selection of Belgian and Greek shorts in the Wallonia/Brussels region. See more at https://www.afilmsouverts.be/-Festival-.html
