This is how the two-day launch meeting of the TRAP project – Freeing Our Rivers of Plastics – went, first in Lisbon, at @tecnico_lisboa, and then in Coruche, Portugal.
Last week, the European project TRAP – Freeing Our Rivers of Plastics – kicked off in Lisbon and Coruche, Portugal.
TRAP brings together partners from Portugal, Spain, France and Ireland to create innovative solutions that capture plastic in rivers and estuaries – using digital tools, nature-based structures and citizen participation.
Local communities will help design, test and improve the solutions, becoming active guardians of their rivers.
A pilot project will be carried out on the Sorraia River in Coruche (Portugal), with the support of @municipio_de_coruche.
TRAP chose the otter as its symbol and logo, as this species is found in all four project countries and depends on healthy waterways to survive.
By 2028, TRAP will deliver a set of practical tools to help authorities, NGOs and companies combat plastic pollution in the rivers of the Atlantic region.
We thank all the participants in these two days of work and connection for their commitment, contributions, energy and joy.
