2024 will be a busy year, and the kick-off year for the project It’s Global Education Time (GET) This project, funded by the DEAR program managed by the European Commission’s International Partnerships Directorate, aims to strengthen the sense of co-responsibility in educational communities in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and respond to four global challenges: 1) Global inequalities; 2) Climate change; 3) Gender equality; and 4) Migration.
With an international European consortium (8 countries), led by the Comitato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo dei Popoli (Italy), with representation and partnership in Portugal with 4Change and the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, the GET project will work preferentially with students, teaching communities, government institutions and civil society organizations in actions with a decentralized territorial scope in the following areas of action:
- Training 100,000 “Activist” teachers in Europe to integrate Global Citizenship into their curricula;
- Multiplication effect in European schools, involving 6400 students in the development of citizenship actions, supported by 1600 young activists;
- Continuous work with government institutions in the field of education and civil society organizations to transform formal education and invest in the integration of Global Citizenship Education;
- Investment in a unified evaluation system for Global Citizenship Education.
According to these main lines of work, the GET project’s international team is solidifying its commitment to empowering educational communities and inspiring a transformation in the educational strategies of 8 European countries, contributing to a more sustainable, critical and interdependent future.
